Random writing for 9/13/2016

1 minute read article writing Comments

A few months ago, I picked up one of those "writing prompts" books at Barnes and Noble. It was only a few bucks and I figured, "what the hell, why not". I like writing, but sometimes it's tough to get the juices flowing (as you can see by the infrequent non-link posts on this blog). I've got ideas, but taking the time to sit down and get it out of my head and onto paper (or the screen) isn't as easy as it sounds. Many times I sit and stare at the page and think about what I'd like to write, but 20 minutes later, I'm still staring at a blank page.

Since I'm traveling for work most of this month, I decided to throw the book in my bag in case I had time. Tonight, while sitting alone in my hotel room, I had the time and decided to flip through to see if anything jumped out at me.

After finding one, I spent a few minutes figuring out, "do I write in the book, or type it instead?" I love pencil on paper, but it's also strange to actually write *IN* a book, even one made for writing. Strange, eh?

Anyway, I finally DID put pencil to the page and answered this question: Look around you right now. What is wrong with this picture?

I'm not actually going to share what I wrote, other than to say it revolves around the fact that I'm sitting alone in a hotel room. :-)

There's really no point to this post other than it's something different and that's what I need right now.
