First, a quote to start the week:

It is not enough to be busy, so are the ants. The question is: What are we busy about?– Henry David Thoreau

How did I do for the week of September 23

Since I haven’t done one of these in a few weeks, I don’t have a list for last week.

Other Stuff

Last week I was at Tech Bash, a conference held at the Kalahari Resort in the Pocono Mountains of Pennsylvania. I had two sessions, one on Spectre.Console, and one on How to be a better interviewer. Both sessions were well attended.

After the event, my wife and I spent a day or so in Gettysburg. I’ve been there a few times, but this was her first time.

On the way back home, we stopped at the Flight 93 Memorial. It was a powerful experience and while I don’t know that I’ll ever go back, it’s something I think everyone should visit at least once.

For the week of September 30, 2024

What I’m reading

I just finished my 52nd book of the year and my 13th King book (The Outsider) this year.

I’m in a book club at work - we’re reading Patty McCord’s Powerful. I finished it a couple weeks ago, but our final discussion is either this week or next.

I also read Pink’s The Power of Regret earlier this month.

Believe it or not, I’m still reading Collaboration Explained by Jean Tabaka and And There Was Light by Jon Meacham. I need to get through them.

Must Do

  • Get back in the swing of things on my project since I was out almost all of last week
  • Get back to writing, and write an extra blog post or two this week as a buffer for the future

Should Do

  • Prep for an upcoming session at the MIDotnet meetup scheduled for October 16
  • Study for AZ-104
  • Read chapters 13 through 15 in Collaboration Explained

Could Do

  • Start prepping for my new conference talk that was selected for Codemash.
  • Schedule something for the Tech Support meeting for November

Won’t Do

  • Spend time playing computer games during the week

Final Thoughts

A question for the week:

Have you scheduled all of your time off for the rest of the year?
