One more tool in my productivity tool chest

As the new month starts, I’m reminded about one tool I’ve used for time management without fail for at least the last few years. It’s simple, but has worked really well for me.

The AT-A-GLANCE Desk Calendar, Monthly, Desk Pad, 17-3/4” x11” sits on my desk, easily viewable and accessible even with a keyboard.

At the start of each month, I go through my Outlook calendar for work and add the big things: town halls, in-office events, meetings that I run, and standing meetings I don’t want to forget about. Then I make a pass and add personal things like allergy shots or meetups. It gives me a good overview of the month without having to rely on always having Outlook running.

I tend to “x” things out as I do them, and I’ll add things on-the-fly as I need to. This particular desk calendar also gives me room for notes and doodles.

I like how it shows me the current day of the year along with the remaining count of days. I also like seeing the entire year in the corner of each month.

Anyway, here’s October. Only one small redaction, otherwise, there’s nothing secret on it.

As a month ends and a new one starts, I tend to tear the old month off and then fold it a few times so I can use the back of it for adhoc notes.
